All televisions have 4K

The first and most important reason to buy a TV is the 4K factor. If you’re planning to buy a 4K monitor, you’ll have to pay loads of money, on the other hand, every TV above 40-inches released in the past one or two years is already 4K. A 40-inch TV also features more pixels per inch and offers a better picture.

TVs Offer a Larger Screen

A TV is actually a bigger version of monitors, no doubt there are several monitors in the market featuring more than 30″ screens, but they cost oceans of money. Having said that, a 4K TV features a 50″-50″ screen or even more. A Larger screen offers more details and lets you fit more on your screen with a comfortable viewing experience.

HDR Compatibility

Another plus point for TVs is that the majority of 4K TVs are HDR compatible, whereas a minimal number of monitors feature HDR compatibility. A screen with HDR compatibility means an enormous array of tones between the brightest and darkest parts of an image. HDR screens offer a more improved visual experience with more number of colors and higher resolution.

TVs Offer more Fun

Another reason to go for a 4k TV instead of a monitor is that televisions offer extra enjoyment. TVs offer a comfortable viewing experience to several people sitting in a room on a Friday night while monitors are small and not as good for a group of people. On top of that, the majority of TVs come with built-in speakers. Whereas with monitors, they don’t come with built-in speakers, you’ll have to buy separate speakers.

Everyone has a TV in their Home

There’s a great chance that you already have a 4K TV in your home. If you already have a 4K TV in your home, there’s no need to spend hundreds of dollars on another TV or monitor. You’re not just saving money; you’re also saving some space in your room that can be utilized for other things.

Any good reason why you should go for a 4K Monitor?

Yeah, if monitors were of no good, they wouldn’t exist; some genuine reasons might be decisive for some people in choosing a monitor over a TV.

The first and most important reason is that monitors perform better at high-paced gaming. Monitors are way better than TVs when it comes to handling input lag. Even some of the best TVs are just as good as any other average monitor. Monitors also feature Adaptive Syncs like G-Sync/Free Sync and refresh rates up to 240Hz, which is out of this world. A TV monitor might give you an edge in visual experience, but when it comes to gaming, monitors perform way better than TVs.

As we discussed earlier, TVs are large monitors which means you’ll first need to find a suitable space somewhere to place your TV. You’ll also need to keep more distance between you and your TV to see everything clearly and comfortably. In contrast, a monitor can be placed on a desk and does not need that much distance to find a comfortable balance between the monitor and your eyes.

How to Use a 4K TV as Your PC Monitor?

It’s simple, connecting a TV is practically the same as a monitor; you only need to find some extra cables that’ll help you achieve your desired performance. The majority of the TVs use HDMI cables for 4K input, whereas monitors use Display Port, MiniDisplayPort, HDMI, and USB-C. Nowadays, almost every laptop is getting rid of HDMI ports and other things to make it look slim; in that case, you’ll need an adapter to connect your TV with your PC.

You’ll either need a USB-C to HDMI adapter or a Display Port to HDMI adapter, make sure to check that your adapters support 4K resolution at 60Hz. You can even go for an adapter with 4k resolution at 30Hz, keeping in mind that there will be a harsh change in performance. Once you have the right set of cables and adapters, connect the TV with your PC, and we’ll step forward on to the next step.

Why Use 4k Tv As Monitor

Additional Settings

Now that you’ve connected the TV to your PC, you still need to configure some settings to get the most out of your TV. One of the most significant issues in TVs is input lag, TVs have higher input lag as compared to monitors. Most of the TVs feature a PC/Game mode that optimizes your screen to reduce input lag, so you’ll need to check your TV’s manual to learn how to turn on PC or Game mode. Higher input lag hugely disturbs the performance of your screen, especially in high-paced gaming.

You might solve your problem by turning on PC or Game Mode, if it doesn’t work, make sure to turn off HDR because Windows 10 does not perform that great with HDR displays. You’ll also need to disable other features like Dynamic Contrast, Detail enhancers, and other settings because they might do more harm than good. Most of the TVs automatically disable all these features once you’ve logged into PC or Game Mode, but if not, make sure to it manually.

Once you’ve configured all these settings, there’ll be nothing to stop you from enjoying your 4K TV Monitor. With only a few cables/ adaptors and configuring some settings, you’ll be good to go. That was all you needed to know about 4K TVs and how to use them as a monitor with PCs.
