They are also called high contrast screens. The reason for this name is because they tend to boost the contrast on digital projectors. They are perfect for rooms that are not dark enough to absorb all reflection.
Thus, the grey screen absorbs the light in a much better way than a white screen can do. For you to get the same results from a white screen, you must make the room completely this means no lights, black furniture, black carpet, and black paint in the room which is difficult to afford and the room is too not available for any other work.
Grey screens work very effectively because they make the dark images completely dark to look. The white image is not completely white and this is one of the major cons to these screens. You may need to sacrifice a little bit for this cons of the grey screen if you can’t afford to design a completely dark room for your movies.
